The Detroit Lions welcome in the Green Bay Packers for the 23rd meeting between these two NFC North rivals on Thanksgiving. Detroit is looking to win back-to-back games on Thanksgiving after defeating Chicago last season. They're also looking to split the season series with the Packers and jump them in the NFC North standings with a win today.
Here are five things to watch in today's contest:
1. Gibbs encore
Jahmyr Gibbs carried Detroit to an overtime win Sunday against the New York Giants with 264 scrimmage yards and three total touchdowns. On the season, Gibbs ranks first in the NFL in average per rush (6.14), second in touchdowns (13), third in rushing yards (951) and fourth in scrimmage yards (1,330). He's also been a big part of Detroit's passing attack with 48 receptions on the year.
Detroit had just 46 rushing yards (2.1 avg.) in the Week 1 loss in Green Bay. Gibbs was held to 19 yards on nine carries. Green Bay has the NFL's sixth-ranked run defense coming into today's contest, allowing on average 96.5 yards per game on the ground.
2. Containing Parsons & disruptive Packers front
In that first matchup at Lambeau Field, the Packers' defense sacked Lions quarterback Jared Goff four times and hit him nine times as Green Bay generated 19 total pressures.
Edge rusher Micah Parsons had a sack in that contest - his Packers debut - and has been a terrific addition to the Packers' defense, leading the team with 10.0 sacks on the year. Only Detroit's Aidan Hutchinson has more total pressures on the season than Parsons. Parsons plays both sides of the line, but it will be a particularly good watch when he lines up against Lions All-Pro right tackle Penei Sewell, who hasn't allowed a sack all season and only three quarterback hits in 11 contests.
3. Red-zone opportunities
One of the big differences Week 1 was Green Bay taking better advantage of their red-zone opportunities. Detroit was just 1-for-4 in the red zone in the loss while the Packers were 3-5. That's a 14-point difference in what ended up being a 14-point Packers win. Both the Lions and Packers rank among the NFL leaders in red-zone scoring as Green Bay ranks sixth (65.9 percent) and Detroit seventh (65.1).
One area where Detroit's defense has struggled at times this season is preventing red-zone touchdowns, ranking 25th in the league allowing a touchdown 61.1 percent of the time opponents get inside their 20-yard line. Whichever defense comes up with more critical stops in the red zone to keep points off the board will go a long way in determining a winner this afternoon.

4. Pressuring Love
New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston had an average time of 3.22 seconds to throw the football Sunday, the second-longest average time to throw for any quarterback in the league Week 12. Detroit recorded just one sack on Winston Sunday, though it was a big one in OT by Hutchinson to seal the win.
In the first meeting against the Packers, Detroit's defense failed to sack Packers quarterback Jordan Love and hit him just twice. Detroit needs to find a way to generate more consistent pressure this time around, whether that's with their front four or via the blitz. Detroit's 32 sacks on the season rank eighth in the NFL.
5. Limiting drops
The Lions ended last season No. 1 in the NFL with the fewest number of dropped passes (7) and lowest drop percentage (1.7). For whatever reason, drops have popped up as an issue at times throughout the course of this season. Detroit has already doubled their drop total from last season with 14 in 11 games with a drop percentage of 5.4 percent.
Wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams have both been credited with five drops this season. Detroit's pass catchers have to make the most of their opportunities to make plays in the passing game today against a Packers' defense that ranks top five in the NFL in both scoring and total defense.
