PFF grades: 7 Lions finish in top 10 at their position

Pro Football Focus named Lions All-Pro tackle Penei Sewell as the Protector of the Year and listed five Lions players to their PFF All-Pro Team.

Here's a look at all the Lions players who finished Top 10 in grading at their position this season:

Tackle Penei Sewell, 1st

Sewell's 95.2 PFF overall grade led all offensive linemen this season. His run-blocking grade (95.1) is the highest by any right tackle over the past five years and he led all offensive linemen by a substantial margin. Sewell allowed pressure on just 3.3 percent of pass plays, a career best that ranked second among right tackles and fifth among all tackles.

Linebacker Jack Campbell, 2nd

Campbell's 90.2 overall grade was second only to Fred Warner, who played in just six games for the 49ers this season. It was a breakout year for Campbell who was named First-Team All-Pro and a Pro Bowler for the first time in his career after finishing second in the NFL with 179 tackles (99 solo) to go along with nine tackle for loss, 5.0 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, 3rd

St. Brown ranked third among all receivers in PFF receiving grade (90.6), marking the fourth straight year he has posted a grade above 90.0. St. Brown had 117 receptions for 1,401 yards and 11 touchdowns becoming just the fourth player in league history to record at least 110 receptions in three straight seasons.

Edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, 4th

Hutchinson's 91.9 overall grade trailed only Myles Garrett (92.7), Will Anderson Jr. (92.6) and Micah Parsons (92.0) in PFF's grading scale as Hutchinson has established himself as one of the elite pass rushers in the NFL. Hutchinson had a career-high 14.5 sacks while leading the NFL with 100 total pressures.

Tight end Sam LaPorta, 4th

The Lions only had LaPorta for nine games after he injured his back Week 10 in Washington. His 82.0 PFF grade trailed only George Kittle (90.7), Colston Loveland (84.6) and Jackson Hawes (83.9) among the league's tight ends after recording 40 receptions for 489 yards and three scores.

Running back Jahmyr Gibbs, 6th

Gibbs' 85.6 grade was down a bit from his career best of 90.1 in 2024, but Detroit's third-year running back was still among the most productive backs in the NFL this season. Gibbs, 23, earned his first All-Pro selection finishing the season seventh in rushing with 1,223 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. He added a career-high 77 receptions for another 616 yards and five touchdowns.

Safety Avonte Maddox, 10th

Maddox proved to be one of Detroit's more savvy signings this past offseason as the veteran was forced into a big role at safety due to injuries to Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch. He finished with a 79.1 grade, the highest of his career after recording 32 tackles, four passes defended and an interception.
