The Detroit Lions host their first and only preseason game of 2026 at Ford Field on Saturday against the Washington Commanders. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. EDT.
In 2025, Detroit beat Washington on the road, 44-22. Quarterback Jared Goff was 25-of-33 in that game for 320 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs had 15 carries for 142 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Head coach Dan Campbell said earlier in the week he plans on playing some starters.
He confirmed on Thursday that Goff will not play. The Lions plan on starting Josh Dobbs under center and having him share time with rookie Luke Altmyer, who started against Cincinnati Preaseason Week 1.
