The Wright stuff: Tight end Tim Wright went right to work Wednesday morning and did what he does best – run routes and catch passes. Wright had not been with a team since being placed on season-ending injured reserve by the Lions in May of 2016. There is no guarantee he will make the final roster, but Wright didn't show any rust. He has 13 career TD catches with the Patriots (5), Buccaneers (6) and Lions (2). – *Mike O'Hara

High standards: Kicker Matt Prater kicked six field goals in a team drill ranging from 33 to 42 yards on the skinny goal posts he likes to practice with. Prater was 3-of-6 kicking through eight-and-a-half-inch goal posts which are 10 feet narrower than regulation goal posts. If Prater had been kicking through regulation goal posts, he would have been 6-for-6, but that's the kind of high standards he has for himself. – Tim Twentyman

Veteran respect: Wednesday's practice was without pads, but that didn't mean there weren't competitive situations. Veteran experience was on display on a running play, when right guard T.J. Lang blocked defensive tackle Akeem Spence. Neither gave ground – or carried it too far. When the play was over, they slapped hands. It was a show that both had done their job. – Mike O'Hara

Extra work: The first-team offense stayed after practice Wednesday to work through a few plays. It's fairly common for quarterback Matthew Stafford and his receivers to stay late and work through some routes, but it's the first time I can remember in this training camp that the whole offense stayed late to get some work in. – Tim Twentyman

Name to remember: One player who entered camp under the radar, but is starting to make a name for himself, is defensive end Alex Barrett. The undrafted rookie out of San Diego State has had a good week, and even took some first-team reps Wednesday opposite Kerry Hyder Jr. He's a player to watch over the next two days in Indy and in Sunday's preseason opener. – Tim Twentyman

Play of the day: A combination effort produced a turnover for the defense in a passing drill. Cornerback Johnson Bademosi jumped to get a hand on a deep sideline pass meant for rookie Kenny Golladay. Safety Charles Washington got over to catch the deflection for an interception. – Mike O'Hara

Rookie linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin had a really nice rep against running back Matt Asiata in one-on-one passing drills. Reeves-Maybin had sticky coverage on Asiata's out route. The ball hit Asiata in the hands and as he was bringing it into his chest, Reeves-Maybin ripped it away for the takeaway. – Tim Twentyman
