NFL announces timing for Lions-Broncos

The NFL has announced that Detroit's final road game of the season, Week 16 in Denver, will be played on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 4:05 p.m. and will air on CBS.

The Lions last played the Broncos at Ford Field in 2015, falling 24-12. It's the first road game the Lions have in the Mile-High City since Oct. 30, 2011, when the Lions defeated the Broncos 45-10 in Denver.

The Lions lucked out last Sunday in Chicago with temperatures in the low 40s, no precipitation and low winds. Late December weather in Denver is hit or miss, with the potential for this to be a game they'll face inclement weather. Detroit plays one other game outdoors in two weeks in Washington.

Denver is currently 3-6 on the season and in last place in the AFC West. Detroit is 3-5-1 and in last place in the NFC North.

The latest news out of Denver is rookie quarterback Drew Lock returning to practice this week after being placed on IR to begin the season with a sprained thumb suffered in the preseason. The Broncos have until Dec. 3 to make a decision on his roster status.
