KEY QUESTIONS: Will Lions be active as trade deadline approaches?

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell spoke to the media Monday following Sunday's loss at home to the Minnesota Vikings in which Detroit didn't play particularly well in all three phases.

Here are all the key questions from Monday's press conference:

What were the things that jumped out to Campbell on tape that explained Sunday's loss to Minnesota?

The first thing Campbell pointed to was Minnesota's 142 rushing yards with a 4.9 average to Detroit's 65 total yards rushing and 3.3 average.

He also pointed to the penalty discrepancy that was 10-7 in Minnesota's favor, the Vikings being 3-for-5 in the red zone compared to Detroit's 1-for-3, the two special team blunders Detroit had with the blocked field goal and long Vikings kickoff return that gave Minnesota the ball in plus territory leading to points, and David Montgomery’s fumble in plus territory that turned into a touchdown.

"The sky is not falling," Campbell said. "We just didn't play very good. We just didn't play very good and so much of it in the fundamentals and the discipline which showed up in that game and they capitalized. They did a good job, and they took advantage of our mistakes, and they got a W because of it."

What did Campbell think of running back Jahmyr Gibbs getting isolated as a blocker a lot Sunday?

Campbell said they didn't do a good enough job adjusting to Minnesota finding ways to isolate Gibbs as a pass blocker in a game in which Gibbs gave up a sack and was credited with allowing seven total pressures.

Campbell said Gibbs is a better pass blocker than what he showed Sunday, but admitted they don't want to put him in that situation that many times in a game moving forward. Montgomery is a better pass blocker in those situations.

"Yeah, we have to adjust a little quicker," Campbell said.

Did suffering some injuries Sunday change Detroit's plans for Tuesday's trade deadline?

"We're still gathering information on some of our guys other than (Christian) Mahogany, he is definitely going to be out for a while," Campbell said.

The coaches had just gotten done with watching the tape and grading the players when Campbell spoke to the media Monday. Campbell said he and GM Brad Holmes hadn't had a chance to talk yet.

Mahogany suffered a broken bone in his leg and will be out an extended period. Tackles Taylor Decker and Penei Sewell also suffered injuries that Campbell described as not long-term injuries but could keep both players out of practice Wednesday and then they'll see where they go from there and how it impacts their availability for Sunday's game in Washington.

Campbell did talk about several players coming back from injury on defense and how that will give the roster a boost, players like cornerback D.J. Reed, linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, defensive lineman Josh Paschal, cornerback Khalil Dorsey and edge rusher Marcus Davenport.

We'll see Tuesday if the Lions enter the trade market.

Who fills Mahogany's role at left guard?

Veteran Kayode Awosika seems like the obvious choice. He filled in Sunday and has starting experience there in this offense.

Campbell also referenced Trystan Colon, Kingsley Eguakun and Michael Niese.
