TWENTYMAN: Breaking down the Lions' 2026 opponents

The Detroit Lions already have their eyes on the 2026 season with NFL Draft preparations and free agency evaluations taking place at the Meijer Performance Center in hopes of taking back the NFC North crown they won in 2023 and 2024.

Head coach Dan Campbell made a significant change to his staff moving on from offensive coordinator John Morton and hiring former Arizona offensive coordinator Drew Petzing.

The NFL will release the full league schedule sometime in the spring, but we already know who Detroit's 17 opponents will be.

The Lions will play their three division rivals – Minnesota, Green Bay and Chicago – once at home and once on the road. The NFC North will face all four teams in the NFC South and AFC East divisions next season.

By finishing in fourth place in the NFC North this season, Detroit's 2026 schedule will include crossover matchups against the fourth-place teams in the AFC South (Tennessee), NFC East (New York Giants) and NFC West (Arizona).

Of the 10 teams that made head coaching changes after the 2025 season, the Lions play six of them next season.

Home games: Chicago, Green Bay, Minnesota, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, New England, New York Jets, Tennessee, New York Giants.
