Mike O'Hara's take: His size adds another big cornerback to the secondary. That should be an asset, with tackling required. It might take some time to develop him, but the skill set is there. One thing in his favor: Lem Barney, one of the Lions' all-time greats and a Hall of Fame cornerback, announced him as the Lions' pick. A great way to start a career.

Tim Twentyman's take: When teams are drafting players in Day 3 of the draft they are looking for physical traits and scheme fits. In Oruwariye, the Lions seem to have gotten both. He's 6-foot-2, 207 pounds with sub-4.5 speed (4.47). He also played a lot of press-man coverage in college. He has all the physical tools. If he develops the rest, he could potentially be able to throw his hat into the mix for the starting outside role opposite Darius Slay.

Secondary position depth chart: Returning starters are Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay and safety Quandre Diggs. Also back are Tracy Walker, Jamal Agnew, Mike Ford, Teez Tabor and Dee Virgin.

Offseason additions: Justin Coleman and Andrew Adams have been signed as free agents.
