NFC NORTH: Where all four teams stand heading into Week 14

CHICAGO

Record: 9-3

Week 13 result: Chicago 24, Philadelphia 15

NFC playoff picture: No. 1

Chicago's playoff probability percentage stands at 76 percent.

Remaining schedule: at Green Bay, vs. Cleveland, vs. Green Bay, at San Francisco, vs. Detroit

Quotable: "Just really proud of everybody involved," Bears head coach Ben Johnson told chicagobears.com after Friday's win over the defending Super Bowl champions. "Short week, we really haven't had one of those yet as a team. I thought the coaching staff did a great job putting a sound plan together.

"We knew it was going to be a race trying to get everything in and kind of harping on the guys that the details were going to be the difference here this week and the team that made the least number of mistakes was probably going to win this game. Fortunately for us, we felt like that fell in our favor."

Twentyman: What a November for Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears. A 5-0 record in the month has moved Chicago to the top spot in the NFC North and the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoff picture. Chicago's offense ranks in the top eight in the league in points (26.1) and yards (374.3) but their biggest flex is the fact that they are the No. 1 rushing team in the league, averaging 153.8 yards per game on the ground. Defensively, Chicago is very optimistic with 26 takeaways and 17 interceptions, the most in the NFL in both categories.

The Bears and Packers play twice over the next three weeks and that will set the stage for what could be a wild NFC North title race the final two weeks of the season. It's been 15 years since the Bears last won at least nine of their first 12 games. The 2010 team opened 9-3 and won the NFC North title with an 11-5 record and advanced to the NFC Championship Game.

Next up: at Green Bay (8-3-1), Sun., Dec. 7, 4:25 p.m.

GREEN BAY

Record: 8-3-1

Week 13 result: Green Bay 31, Detroit 24

NFC playoff picture: No. 6

Green Bay's playoff probability percentage stands at 89 percent.

Remaining schedule: vs. Chicago, at Denver, at Chicago, vs. Baltimore, at Minnesota

Quotable: "The only way you come into this place, which is not an easy place to play, is you've got to be aggressive," Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said of going 3-for-3 with two touchdowns going for it on fourth down against Detroit on Thanksgiving.

Twentyman: Green Bay controls their own destiny in the division with two monster games remaining against Chicago the next three weeks. The win over Detroit on Thanksgiving was huge for the Packers as it gave them the season sweep over Detroit and any tiebreaker advantage with the Lions should it arise. Green Bay has won three straight and is the most complete team in all three phases among the four teams in the NFC North.

Next up: vs. Chicago (9-3), Sun. Dec. 7, 4:25 p.m.

DETROIT

Record: 7-5

Week 13 result: Green Bay 31, Detroit 24

NFC playoff picture: No. 8

Detroit's playoff probability percentage stands at 46 percent.

Remaining schedule: vs. Dallas, at LA Rams, vs. Pittsburgh, at Minnesota, at Chicago.

Quotable: "I think ultimately where we have to get better collectively as a team, in all three phases, which I'm responsible for, is our detail and our discipline," Lions head coach Dan Campbell said. "That's what's bitten us here a little bit.

"I think all the little things we talk about, and it really is those two words – detail and discipline. We have to be so much better, a ton better than we've been. We're too inconsistent right now."

Twentyman: Detroit hasn't been able to string together back-to-back wins since Weeks 4 (Cleveland) and 5 (Cincinnati). They now have a 1-3 record within the division and are looking up at Green Bay and Chicago in the standings. Detroit will need help to win a third straight division title. Maybe the most disappointing aspect of this team's 3-3 mark over the last six weeks is the fact they aren't winning the line of scrimmage on either side of the football like we've been used to seeing.

Detroit needs to go on a run starting Thursday vs. Dallas or their path to the playoffs gets exponentially more difficult the last month of the season.

Next up: vs. Dallas (6-5-1), Thurs. Dec. 4, 8:15 p.m.

MINNESOTA

Record: 4-8

Week 13 result: Seattle 26, Minnesota 0

NFC playoff picture: No. 12

Minnesota's playoff probability percentage stands at less than 1 percent.

Remaining schedule: vs. Washington, at Dallas, at NY Giants, vs. Detroit, vs. Green Bay

Quotable: "In no way, shape or form can we play offensive football like that and try to win in a place like this," Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said after Sunday's shutout loss in Seattle.

Twentyman: It's pretty crazy the difference a year can make in the NFL. Last year, Detroit and Minnesota were battling for the NFC North title and the No. 1 seed in the NFC at this point in the season. A year later, the Vikings have all but been eliminated from playoff contention Week 13, the Lions are currently outside the playoff picture looking in, and the Bears now are the No. 1 seed. It's part of the reason the NFL is so great.

Minnesota was forced to start Max Brosmer at quarterback Sunday with J.J. McCarthy out due to injury. Brosmer threw four interceptions in a shutout loss. The big question in Minnesota the rest of the season is whether they think McCarthy is truly QB1 or if they need to bring in a veteran to at least compete with him next season. There are still meaningful games down the stretch for the Vikings to figure that out.

Next up: vs. Washington, Sun., Dec. 7, 1 p.m.
