Lions sign unrestricted free agent S Tavon Wilson

The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed unrestricted free agent S Tavon Wilson. Contract terms were not disclosed.

Wilson played the last four seasons with the New England Patriots (2012-15) after being drafted by the club in the second round (48 overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Illinois. He appeared in nine games in 2015 for the Patriots and finished the season with 10 tackles (eight solo), one pass defense and one special teams tackle.

In four seasons with the Patriots, Wilson played in 54 games (four starts) and tallied 79 total tackles (60 solo), five interceptions, including four as a rookie in 2012, two fumble recoveries and 11 pass defenses. He appeared in five postseason games during his time in New England and was a member of the team's Super Bowl XLIX win that concluded the 2014 season.
