Lions sign TE Clay Harbor, release TE Orson Charles

Allen Park, Mich. –The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed TE Clay Harbor and released TE Orson Charles. Contract terms were not disclosed.

Harbor (6-3, 240) joins the Lions after beginning the 2016 season with the New England Patriots, where he appeared in three games. Prior to New England, Harbor spent three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2013-15) and three with the Philadelphia Eagles (2010-12).

Originally drafted by the Eagles in the fourth round (125th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Missouri State, Harbor has seen action in 86 career games (36 starts), as well as one postseason game with Philadelphia in 2010. His career totals include 111 receptions for 1,151 yards (10.4 avg) and eight touchdowns.
