Lions sign RB Joique Bell and CB Asa Jackson

Allen Park, Mich. –The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed RB Joique Bell and CB Asa Jackson to the team's 53-man active roster. The team also placed DE Armonty Bryant (knee) and CB Quandre Diggs (pectoral) on Reserve/Injured. In addition, TE Brandon Pettigrew was placed on Reserve/Non-Football Injury (from Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform).

Detroit acquired Jackson off of Baltimore's practice squad.

Bell (5-11, 231) re-joins the Lions after spending four seasons with the team (2012-15), where he appeared in 60 games (15 starts) and totaled 561 carries for 2,235 yards (4.0 avg) and 22 touchdowns, in addition to 161 receptions for 1,640 yards (10.2 avg) and one touchdown during his time in Detroit. He most recently appeared in four games for the Chicago Bears this season before being released on October 24.

An undrafted rookie free agent in 2010 with the Philadelphia Eagles out of Detroit's own Wayne State, Bell first joined the Lions in 2011 after previous stints with the Indianapolis Colts (2010) and New Orleans Saints (2011). His career totals include 72 games (15 starts), 564 carries, 2,241 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns, as well as 161 receptions, 1,640 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Jackson (5-10, 183) comes to Detroit after beginning his NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens (2012-16) as the team's fifth-round (169 overall) draft selection in 2012 out of Cal Poly. He most recently spent time as a member of the Ravens practice squad this season.

In 18 career games (six starts) with the Ravens, Jackson has totaled 27 total tackles (22 solo), one tackle for loss and three pass defenses. In 2012, he appeared in the team's AFC Divisional round game vs. Denver (1/12/13).
