Lions sign free agent QB Josh Johnson and free agent RB Justin Stockton

Allen Park, Mich. – The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed free agent QB Josh Johnson and free agent RB Justin Stockton. Additional contract terms were not disclosed.

In addition, the team announced the following transactions:

Placed on Reserve/Injured:

  • DT Darius Kilgo

Johnson comes to Detroit after appearing in four games (three starts) for the Washington Redskins in 2018, where he completed 52-of-91 passes (57.1 percent) for 590 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 23 rushing attempts for 120 yards (5.2 avg.) and one score last season.

Johnson originally entered the League with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who selected him in the fifth round (160th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft out of San Diego. Appearing in games for the Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals and Redskins in his career, Johnson owns totals of 33 games played (eight starts), 1,632 passing yards, eight passing touchdowns, 394 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

Stockton returns to the Lions after finishing the 2018 season on the team's practice squad. He originally entered the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks in 2018, who signed him as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Texas Tech.
