Lions sign free agent DT Sylvester Williams

Allen Park, Mich. –The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed free agent DT Sylvester Williams. Contract terms were not disclosed.

Williams joins the Lions after spending the 2017 season with the Tennessee Titans, where he played in 15 games (11 starts) and finished with 20 tackles (12 solo). Prior to Tennessee, Williams played four seasons (2013-16) with the Denver Broncos.

A former first-round selection (28th overall) by the Broncos in the 2013 NFL Draft out of North Carolina, Williams' career totals include 75 games (59 starts), 114 total tackles (79 solo), six sacks, two pass defenses and one fumble recovery. In nine postseason games (seven starts), he has totaled 13 tackles (10 solo), one sack and one pass defense. He was a member of Denver's Super Bowl 50 win over Carolina following the 2015 season.
