Statement by NFL spokesperson on Khyri Thornton

STATEMENT BY AN NFL SPOKESPERSON:

Khyri Thornton of the Detroit Lions has been suspended without pay for the first six games of the 2017 regular season for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.

Thornton will be eligible to return to the Lions' active roster on Monday, October 16 following the team's October 15 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Thornton is eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games.
