Allen Park, Mich. – The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed unrestricted free agent CB Rashaan Melvin. Additional contract terms were not disclosed.
Melvin enters his sixth NFL season after playing for the Oakland Raiders in 2018, where he appeared in 14 games (seven starts) and totaled 56 tackles and one interception. Prior to Oakland, Melvin spent time with the Indianapolis Colts (2016-17), New England Patriots (2015) and Baltimore Ravens (2014-15).
He originally entered the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a rookie free agent out of Northern Illinois in 2013 and spent time with the Buccaneers and on the Miami Dolphins' practice squad before making his NFL debut with Baltimore in 2014. His career totals include 51 games played (28 starts), 174 tackles, four interceptions and 30 pass defenses.
