Lions sign S Glover Quin to contract extension through 2019 season

Allen Park, Mich. –The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed S Glover Quin to a contract extension through the 2019 season. Additional contract terms were not disclosed.

"Glover is one of our team leaders, and throughout his career has been a consummate professional on and off the field," Lions Executive Vice President and General Manager Bob Quinn said.  "We are thrilled that he will be a Lion for the next three seasons.

"I also want to thank Glover and his representatives for their work in making this contract extension a reality."

Quin joined the Lions as an unrestricted free agent in 2013 after spending his first four seasons in the NFL with the Houston Texans (2009-12) and has played in 127 of a possible 128 regular season games (124 starts) during his career. His career totals include 575 total tackles (460 solo), 21 interceptions, three sacks, 75 pass defenses, six forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

Quin's 116-consecutive regular season starts are the most among active NFL safeties and second among all defensive backs. He was selected to the Pro Bowl following the 2014 season.
