Lions awarded DE Armonty Bryant via waivers

Allen Park, Mich. –The Detroit Lions announced today that they were awarded DE Armonty Bryant via waivers and placed DE Wallace Gilberry (abdomen) on Reserve/Injured.

Entering his fourth NFL season, Bryant (6-4, 265) joins the Lions defense following a three-year stint with the Cleveland Browns (2013-15). He played in 14 games (two starts) last season for the Browns, finishing with 40 tackles (28 solo), 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Originally drafted by the Browns in the seventh round (217th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft out of East Central (Okla.) University, Bryant has appeared in 31 career NFL games (four starts). His career totals include 61 tackles (40 solo), 8.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
