Lions announce an update to the coaching staff

Allen Park, Mich. – The Detroit Lions announced today the following update to the coaching staff:

BILLY YATES – WILLIAM CLAY FORD MINORITY COACHING ASSISTANTSHIP
Billy Yates, currently the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Bowling Green State University, has been hired by the Lions for the William Clay Ford Minority Coaching Assistantship. Yates played eight seasons in the NFL as an offensive lineman for the Miami Dolphins (2003), New England Patriots, (2004-09) and Cleveland Browns (2009-11). He was the strength and conditioning coach at Texas A&M in 2013 before spending three seasons as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Texas Tech (2014-16). Yates played collegiately at Texas A&M.
