Allen Park, Mich. – The Detroit Lions announced today that they have acquired DT Damon Harrison via trade with the New York Giants for a future, undisclosed draft pick. In addition, the Lions announced that they have released DT Sylvester Williams.

Harrison comes to Detroit after spending the past three seasons (2016-18) with the Giants where he appeared in 39 games (39 starts) during that time. In seven starts with the Giants earlier this season, he recorded 31 tackles and a forced fumble. During his stint with the Giants, Harrison earned First-Team All-Pro honors following his 2016 season that included 86 tackles (55 solo), 2.5 sacks, six tackles-for-loss and one forced fumble.

An undrafted free agent out of William Penn in 2012, Harrison began his NFL career with the New York Jets. His career totals include 386 tackles (226 solo), 5.5 sacks, one interception and three forced fumbles in 92 career games (87 starts).
