Lions' 2026 NFL Draft order set

With the NFL awarding 33 compensatory picks to 15 teams, the full seven-round 2026 NFL Draft order is now set.

The Lions were awarded a fifth-round compensatory pick in this year's draft (No. 181 overall).

Compensatory picks are decided by a formula based on the previous year's free agents. Under the system, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks, up to four maximum. The level of compensation is determined based on salary, playing time and postseason honors.

Per the league, the Lions' compensatory free agents lost were Carlton Davis, Ifeatu Melifonwu and Kevin Zeitler. The free agents gained were Roy Lopez and D.J. Reed.

The Lions have been awarded 26 compensatory picks since they first started being given out in 1994.

With the addition of a fifth-round compensatory pick, the Lions currently own eight picks in this year's draft.

Here are Detroit's current picks in the 2026 NFL Draft:

  • Round 1, Pick 17
  • Round 2, Pick 18 (No. 50 overall)
  • Round 4, Pick 18 (118)
  • Round 5, Pick 17 (157)
  • Round 5, Pick 41 (181) - compensatory selection
  • Round 6, Pick 24 (205) - from Jaguars
  • Round 6, Pick 32 (213) - from Seahawks through Jaguars
  • Round 7, Pick 6 (222) - from Browns

The NFL Draft will be held April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.
