Detroit Lions and Meijer announce year two of limited-edition collectible flag program to tackle food insecurity in Michigan

DETROIT – The Detroit Lions and Meijer are launching year two of their annual collectible flag program in an effort to tackle food insecurity across the state of Michigan. The flags, which feature a new limited-edition design each year, will be in all Michigan Meijer stores beginning Wednesday, September 10 and will be available for $15 with any in-store purchase. Meijer is donating all proceeds from the sale of each flag to the Detroit Lions Foundation, which will be used to help increase food access in our communities.

"We are excited to partner with Meijer and launch our second annual limited-edition collectible flags for fans to help embrace our team's missions both on and off the field," said Vice President of Detroit Lions Foundation & Community Relations Roxanne Caine. "The flag provides a way for fans to continue to support the team, while also making an impact on communities throughout Michigan. As this initiative grows year over year, we look forward to increasing the impact we are able to make when it comes to tackling food insecurity."

The Detroit Lions Flag Program launched in December 2024 to build on the Lions and Meijer's year-round commitment to addressing food access needs across Michigan communities. The two organizations also work closely during Thanksgiving to pack and distribute meal kits to families in need around the state.

"At Meijer, supporting our communities is at the heart of everything we do. That's why we are pleased to again be the exclusive retailer of these collectible flags, which is yet another way our partnership with the Lions helps us tackle food insecurity in our communities," said Melissa Conway, Director of Community Partnerships and Giving at Meijer. "By inviting our customers to participate, as both fans and community members, we can help ensure every family has access to healthy, nutritious food. It's another way our customers can join us to help their neighbors in need."

Meijer, a longtime partner of the team, became the exclusive grocery partner of the Detroit Lions in July 2024 when the two organizations announced an expanded partnership, which included the naming rights to the team's training facility, now called "Meijer Performance Center," among other new and enhanced community and marketing initiatives.
