This will be the fifth annual Quick Lane Bowl. Quick Lane Tire and Auto Center has been the title sponsor of the annual college football bowl game at Ford Field since its 2014 inaugural game.
The Duke Blue Devils, led by longtime college football coach David Cutcliffe, defeated the Rod Carey led Northern Illinois Huskies 36-14 to win the 2017 Quick Lane Bowl. Though the game was tied 14-14 with minutes left in the first half, the Blue Devils ultimately dominated, heading into halftime with a 26-14 lead and running with it. Duke's QB Daniel Jones ended the game with 252 yards passing, 86 yards rushing, two passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown and the MVP title.
The Quick Lane Bowl traditionally features teams from the Big Ten and ACC. At the end of the college football season, officials from both conferences meet with bowl officials to determine the best possible matchup and choose their team representatives.
The Detroit Lions entertainment division, DLI Entertainment, has promoted multiple large-scale shows and events at Ford Field since 2002 and has been home of the MAC Football Championship since 2004. Notably, DLI has hosted nine Kenny Chesney shows with another coming this summer. Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé & Jay –Z and Luke Bryan will also bring their international tours to Ford Field in 2018.
