Lions sign K Matt Prater to a contract extension

Allen Park, Mich. –The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed K Matt Prater to a contract extension. Additional contract terms were not disclosed.

"Matt is among the best kickers in the National Football League and has proven that time and time again since coming to Detroit in 2014. This extension solidifies our kicking game through 2020. I would like to thank Matt and his representatives for their work on getting this contract extension completed."

Prater joined the Lions in 2014 after beginning his NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons (2007) and Denver Broncos (2007-13). In 145 career games, he has converted 226-of-272 field goal attempts (83.1 percent) and totaled 363 PATs and 1,041 points. He was named to his second-career Pro Bowl last season after converting on a career-high 31 field goals in 2016.

The Lions also announced today that they have signed WR Jace Billingsley to the active roster from the practice squad and have signed QB Brad Kaaya to the practice squad. T Corey Robinson, currently on Reserve/Injured, will also return to practice.
