Allen Park, Mich. – The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed EDGE Aidan Hutchinson to a contract extension through the 2030 season. Additional contract terms were not disclosed.
Hutchinson originally came to Detroit as the second-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Michigan. Since then, he has appeared in 46 career games and recorded 138 tackles (93 solo), 78 quarterback hits, 36 tackles for loss, 34.5 sacks, 11 pass defenses, eight forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and four interceptions. He earned a 2023 Pro Bowl selection and was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month in September of 2024.
He is the only player in NFL history to reach 34.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles and four interceptions through 46 career games played. Halfway through his fourth year, Hutchinson owns the most sacks through four-career seasons in Lions history. Last season, he became the second player in NFL history to produce 25.0 sacks and four interceptions through three-career seasons.
He currently leads the NFL in total pressures generated (48), quarterback hurries (33) and strip-sacks (three) while also tying for the most forced fumbles (four).
