INACTIVES: Lions vs. Bears

The Detroit Lions will have all five starters along their offense line available today for their regular season home opener against division rival Chicago.

Veteran left tackle Taylor Decker missed all three days of practice this week with a shoulder injury and was listed as questionable to play on Friday's injury report, but Decker is active and expected to start vs. the Bears.

"He's got a little bit something here, so we're just trying to buy him some time here to where he feels better," Lions head coach Dan Campbell said of Decker on Friday. "A lot of it, too, is the luxury of – Decker's played a lot of football. And so, he'll be ready as long as it feels right. But yeah, we feel good right now."

Decker being active is good news for a Lions offensive front looking for a bounce-back performance after they struggled to run the football with any kind of consistency and had some issue protecting quarterback Jared Goff (four sacks, nine QB hits) in a loss in Green Bay last week in the season opener.

All-Pro safety Kerby Joseph is also active and expected to start after showing up on the practice report late last week with a knee injury. That's big for a Detroit secondary facing multi-dimensional quarterback Caleb Williams, who passed for 590 yards with five touchdowns, no interceptions and 102.8 rating in two starts vs. Detroit as a rookie last season.

The Lions will be without the services of special teams ace Sione Vaki, however. The second-year running back has been rehabbing a hamstring injury suffered in training camp. He was a limited participant in practice all week so he's getting closer to returning, but the Lions listed him as doubtful to play Friday and he is inactive. When Vaki returns, he'll give Detroit's special teams a big boost.

Joining Vaki on Detroit's inactive list today vs. Chicago is linebacker Trevor Nowaske, safety Thomas Harper, defensive lineman Tyler Lacy, defensive lineman Chris Smith and edge rusher Tyrus Wheat.

Detroit elevated linebacker Monty Rice from the practice squad on Saturday and he is active for today's contest.
