Training Camp FAQs

When is Training Camp?

Training Camp starts Saturday, July 29 and open practices take place until Thursday, August 17. Practices are at the Detroit Lions Training Facility in Allen Park, MI. The full practice schedule can be found here.

PARKING & ENTRY

Where do I park?

Parking is free and available in select lots on Republic Drive, Federal Drive and Fairlane Circle near the Lions Headquarters and Training Facility located at 222 Republic Drive, Allen Park, MI 48101. A free shuttle ride to and from the facility will be provided to fans who park in the Fairlane Circle lots. Staff will be on hand to direct visitors to available parking.

In addition to the Republic Drive main entrance, fans will also be directed to the back gate off of the Southfield Freeway (M-39 North) Service Drive. Visitors should enter the gate nearest to their parking location.

Where is ADA Parking?

Limited amount of ADA parking is available first come, first serve at the Detroit Lions Training Facility.

What time do gates open / close for Training Camp practices?

Gates open 60 minutes prior to practice.

Practice will close once the players exit the field, and guests must then make their way to the exits.

What are the seating options?

Fans can sit in the main bleachers located on the west end of the practice fields. Seating in the bleachers is not assigned and is available on a first come, first-serve basis. Wheelchair accessible viewing is also available. There are also bleachers located on the south end of the practice fields – and fans are able to stand in available areas along the barriers surrounding the practice fields.

Will there be ADA accessible seating?

Yes, ADA seating at the Training Facility is located on the south end of the Main Bleachers as well as on the east end of the practice fields. There is also ADA restrooms located on the fire lane leading into the facility.

2023 Family Fest?

Due to a scheduling conflict with WWE Summerslam on August 5 at Ford Field, the Lions will not host a 2023 Family Fest event. The Lions will have (2) home preseason games that take place during Training Camp on August 11 vs. New York Giants and August 19 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars. The Lions plan to bring back Family Fest in 2024.

What happens if it rains?

Practice may take place in light rain but is always subject to change at the discretion of the Lions Coaching staff. Fans should be advised to call the Training Camp Hotline at (313) 262-2882 if they have a question about the status of practice. It will be updated regularly with weather and practice cancellation updates.

Is food and drink available?

Yes! There will be food trucks offering a food and drink on the premises at Allen Park for a small charge.

How do I get my favorite Lions player's autograph?

Following each day of practice, select Lions players will sign autographs for fans around the venue. Seating at Training Camp is first come, first serve.

Will Lions merchandise be on-sale at Training Camp? Will I be able to use my Lions Loyal Member discount on merchandise items?

Yes, a merchandise trailer will be on-site for fans to purchase merchandise. Lions Loyal Member discounts will not be applied to purchases during Training Camp.

Can I bring a football, jersey or other item to practice to have signed?

Yes! Following each day of practice, select Lions players will sign autographs for fans around the venue. Seating at Training Camp is first come, first serve.

Is there anything I can't bring to Training Camp?

Yes. Personal belongings are subject to inspection upon entry and items not permitted into open practices include:

  • Professional cameras (lenses over five inches long and/or 50mm or above), any video camera, selfie sticks, drones, food, beverage, coolers, lawn chairs, blankets, umbrellas, purses (larger than a clutch) or backpacks.
  • Only bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12" will be permitted on the premises. Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at the gate.
  • Small clutch bags/camera and binocular cases, not exceeding 4.5" x 6.5", with or without a handle or strap, may also be carried into the practice facility's perimeter.
  • All cell phones should be turned off or placed on silent or vibrating mode. The fan viewing area features bleacher seating areas and additional standing areas.
