PRIMEIRA DESCIDA: O HOMEM DE CONFIANÇA
A primeira jogada da partida desse domingo para o ataque do Detroit Lions foi uma recepção com corrida de 34 jardas do Quarterback Jared Goff para o Wide Receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Isso se mostrou uma ótima prévia do que seria na vitória de Detroit por 52 a 21 contra o Chicago Bears.
St. Brown já tinha seis recepções para 100 jardas quando anotou um grande touchdown no final do primeiro tempo para deixar a vantagem do Lions em duas posses antes do intervalo. Foi a primeira vez que St. Brown teve mais de 100 jardas recebidas em qualquer jogo no primeiro tempo em sua carreira. Ele terminou a partida com nove recepções para 115 jardas e entrou na end zone três vezes. Ele é o primeiro jogador do Lions desde Calvin Johnson em 2010 a ter um jogo de pelo menos 100 jardas e 3 touchdowns.
"O jogador mais confiável que eu já lancei em toda a minha vida", Goff disse sobre St. Brown após a partida.
Goff e St. Brown produziram muito ao longo dos últimos cinco anos e essa química é algo incomparável na relação entre Quarterback e Recebedor. Toda grande dupla na NFL teve isso também. O passe para touchdown no final do primeiro tempo é um grande exemplo dessa sintonia, Goff disse isso após o jogo.
O ataque de Detroit precisava de uma boa atuação após a performance na Semana 1 na derrota para Green Bay e foi um sinal claro de que eles desenharam uma jogada para St. Brown para abrir o jogo. Ele é um dos melhores da Liga e provou isso no domingo.
SEGUNDA DESCIDA: PERFORMANCE DA LINHA OFENSIVA
Existe um padrão que foi construído pelo treinador de Linha Ofensiva Hank Fraley ao longo dos anos, e todo jogador que foi entrevistado após a partida da Semana 1 disse que esse padrão não foi alcançado.
Foi uma semana importante para Detroit acertar alguns erros e falhas técnicas que sobressaíram em Green Bay e corrigi-las quando voltaram para jogar no Ford Field contra um outro rival de divisão.
Isso foi exatamente o que aconteceu contra o Bears. Começou com o jogo corrido, já que Detroit produziu 177 jardas corridas numa média de 5,9 jardas por tentativa, com dois touchdowns para Jahmyr Gibbs e David Montgomery, um para cada.
"A Linha Ofensiva teve um jogo muito, muito bom", disse o treinador principal do Detroit Lions Dan Campbell. "Na proteção, no jogo corrido. Eles realmente nos colocaram no jogo".
Goff disse que viu uma melhora significativa, principalmente dos jovens Guards Tate Ratledge e Christian Mahogany nessa semana, especialmente na proteção do passe. Goff foi atingido apenas quatro vezes na partida e Chicago não anotou nenhum sack.
Quando a linha ofensiva joga tão bem quanto nós vimos no domingo, o ataque de Detroit é difícil de ser batido.

TERCEIRA DESCIDA: MELHOR NO PASS RUSH
Nós falamos sobre a melhora da Linha Ofensiva após precisar de uma boa atuação na Semana 2 e o mesmo pode ser dito para o front defensivo de Detroit, especialmente o pass rush. Tinha muita pressão no front seven de Detroit para essa semana para conter o Quarterback de Chicago Caleb Williams e jogar melhor do que nós vimos na Semana 1.
O Coordenador Defensivo, Kelvin Sheppard, merece muitos créditos por ter um ótimo plano defensivo contra Chicago. Os jogadores precisavam aparecer e eles fizeram exatamente isso.
Detroit anotou quatro sacks, quatro QB hits e incontáveis pressões em Williams, basicamente no jogo inteiro. Uma pressão resultou na interceptação de Kerby Joseph no final do primeiro tempo.
Talvez uma das maiores reações vistas no Ford Field neste domingo veio em um sack no último período, com Aidan Hutchinson, o seu primeiro sack depois de voltar da lesão que encerrou a sua temporada em 2024 na Semana 6. Também anotaram um sack para Detroit seus companheiros de pass rush Marcus Davenport e Al-Quadin Muhammad. O Safety Brian Branch também teve um sack após uma blitz de Detroit, que foram muito mais efetivas essa semana.
QUARTA DESCIDA: JOGADAS EXPLOSIVAS
O ataque de Detroit entra a cada jogo com uma expectativa muito alta quando se trata sobre jogadas explosivas. Goff já disse que a meta é algo entre seis e oito desse tipo, a depender do oponente.
Com jogadores talentosos como St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Gibbs, Sam LaPorta e outros, é quase natural esperar jogadas explosivas desse ataque. Após anotar apenas uma de mais de 20 jardas na Semana 1 na derrota para o Packers, Detroit aumentou esse número para sete no duelo deste domingo, sendo 10 jogadas para mais de 15 jardas.
"Elas são muito importantes", Goff disse. "Seis a oito toda semana. Por que elas aconteceram essa semana e não na semana passada? Porque nós executamos melhor. Nós tivemos jogadores livres, eles fizeram recepções, eu lancei a bola melhor, nós corremos melhor, protegemos mais. Nós fizemos tudo melhor. Quando fazemos o que se espera de nós, temos grandes jogadores e gente para quem eu posso distribuir a bola e ser tão explosivo como foi hoje".
