Asked about his trust in Brock Wright Friday with tight end Sam LaPorta missing his third straight practice due to a back injury, Campbell reached up and touched the ceiling.
"High. Sky high," Campbell said. "Brock's a guy we don't talk a lot about but he's the jack of all trades. He does everything for us - pass protect, run block, he can run some routes, he plays special teams. He's one of the most dependable players we have on this team."
Wright has recorded nine receptions this season for 71 yards with two touchdowns while playing a myriad of roles on offense and special teams. He's one of the glue pieces on offense, along with wide receiver Kalif Raymond.
"At the end of the day, what you really need in the tight end position is versatility and smarts and he's got both of those - and he's tough," Campbell said. "So, he checks a lot of boxes of a well-rounded tight end and so that is always going to make me feel a lot better. Offensively, feel a lot better."
If LaPorta isn't able to go Sunday in Philadelphia, the Lions will certainly miss his production of 40 receptions, 489 receiving yards and three touchdowns on the season, but Campbell has a lot of faith in Wright with Ross Dwelley also on the roster and Anthony Firkser and Zach Horton on the practice squad in reserve.
"It means a lot," Wright said of Campbell's trust in him. "I couldn't be more grateful for him and Brad (Holmes) ever since I got here helping to develop me and giving me the opportunity to build that confidence they have in me. Means a lot and gives me excitement and confidence to go out there and perform."
BIG GAME FEEL
A number of Lions players have openly talked this week about the importance and magnitude of Sunday's game against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles in Philadelphia.
Aidan Hutchinson said Wednesday he's viewing Sunday as a 'must win' for this team.
"We've been looking at this one on our calendar for a long time," Hutchinson said. "Coaches are going to have us ready, we're going to be ready for this game, and we really see this as a must win."
For a Week 11 non-division matchup, Sunday does have a big game feel to it. The Eagles are 7-2 and currently the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff picture. Sunday's winner will have a key advantage when it comes time for seeding in the NFC playoffs.
Campbell said Friday he loves the fact his players have embraced the magnitude of Sunday's contest.
"I do like that. I think we need to apply some pressure on ourselves, in a good way, because I know we've got the right guys too," he said. "The reality is we've still got a lot of games left. How much is a must-win a must-win? But yet, I think when you view it that way, we've got to find a way to come away with this one. It's important.
"And I just think it applies the right kind of friction, the right kind of pressure on you. So, I am good because I know our guys and I know that they're gearing up, they're going to be ready to respond."

PHILADELPHIA HOMECOMING
Avonte Maddox spent his first seven seasons in Philadelphia and won a Super Bowl with the Eagles last season before signing with Detroit as a free agent.
Maddox has been a versatile reserve in Detroit's secondary with the ability to play cornerback, safety and special teams. He has 10 tackles on the season with a tackle for loss.
"It's a place I was drafted to and spent the last seven years there and I enjoyed every single one of them from the ups and the downs. I've made friends who I call family over there," Maddox said this week.
"I'm excited to go back there and this time just running out of the opposite tunnel. I don't think I've ever seen the opposing locker room. So, this is actually going to be new to me. Actually, a lot of new things. I'm going to be experiencing a lot of new things this year going over there in the Linc (Lincoln Financial Field) but that'll be pretty cool."
The Lions are dealing with some injuries in their secondary heading into Sunday's matchup and could turn to Maddox to give them some key snaps.
