Os Lions estão fora de casa, em Kansas City, para o Sunday Night Football contra os Chiefs, em busca da quinta vitória consecutiva. Confira cinco pontos para observar no duelo:
1. SONIC E KNUCKLES
Os Lions chegam para essa partida com o ataque mais produtivo da NFL em pontuação e buscam marcar pelo menos 34 pontos pelo quinto jogo seguido. O ataque terrestre de Detroit ocupa a sétima posição da liga, com média de 134,8 jardas por jogo.
Kansas City, por outro lado, aparece apenas na 26ª colocação da NFL em média de jardas por corrida permitidas, com 4,78 jardas. A defesa cedeu pelo menos 100 jardas terrestres em quatro jogos consecutivos, com uma média de 123,4 jardas por jogo aos adversários. E qual é a melhor forma de conter o poderoso pass rush dos Chiefs e deixar Patrick Mahomes fora de campo o máximo possível? Controlar o tempo de posse de bola e usar Jahmyr Gibbs e David Montgomery para abrir espaços para o restante do ataque.
2. LIMITAR MAHOMES FORA DO POCKET
Mahomes é um dos melhores da liga em estender jogadas fora do pocket e conquistar jardas com as próprias pernas — ele, inclusive, lidera os Chiefs em jardas terrestres após cinco jogos.
Na Semana 3, a defesa dos Lions fez um excelente trabalho contra Lamar Jackson, dos Ravens, conseguindo sete sacks e mantendo o quarterback contido nas corridas.
O coordenador defensivo Kelvin Sheppard buscará uma atuação parecida nesta noite contra Mahomes. Com as lesões na secundária, o front seven dos Lions precisará aparecer e jogar em alto nível fora de casa.
3. LESÕES NA SECUNDÁRIA
Os Lions estão bastante desfalcados no setor defensivo e precisarão de alguns jogadores assumindo novos papéis diante do explosivo ataque dos Chiefs.
Detroit já está sem seus dois Cornerbacks titulares — D.J. Reed (posterior da coxa) e Terrion Arnold (ombro). A equipe confia nos veteranos Amik Robertson e Rock Ya-Sin para preencher as lacunas nas laterais, mas as preocupações não param por aí.
Os Safeties Kerby Joseph (joelho) e Brian Branch (tornozelo) também estão lesionados e perderam treinos nesta semana. O técnico Dan Campbell disse estar otimista em ter Branch à disposição, mas confirmou que ambos serão decisões de última hora.
Além disso, o Safety e Nickel Corner Avonte Maddox apareceu no relatório médico com uma lesão muscular e também será avaliado momentos antes da partida.
Por isso, os Lions precisarão que a linha defensiva e os Linebackers façam uma partida sólida para compensar as ausências no fundo do campo.

4. GOFF PODE MANTER O RITMO?
Jared Goff comanda um ataque dos Lions que lidera a NFL em média de pontos por jogo, com 34,8. Ele ocupa o 1º lugar em passes para touchdown (12), 1º em aproveitamento de passes (75,2%), 2º em passer rating (120,7) e está entre os quatro primeiros em passes de 25 jardas ou mais. Goff está jogando a nível de MVP e tentará manter o alto nível nesta noite contra uma defesa de respeito.
Os Chiefs possuem a 7ª melhor defesa aérea da liga, limitando os adversários a menos de 200 jardas por jogo (190,6). Além disso, estão entre os 10 melhores em sacks (13). Será o maior desafio do ataque de Detroit até agora na temporada.
5. HUTCHINSON BUSCA RECORDE
O Edge Rusher Aidan Hutchinson tenta alcançar o quinto jogo consecutivo com um sack, o que estabeleceria um novo recorde da franquia.
Hutchinson tem números de Jogador Defensivo do Ano (DPOY) neste início de temporada. Ele está empatado na liderança da NFL em pressões totais (31), em 2º em fumbles forçados (3), 2º em quarterback hits (8) e empatado em 4º em sacks (5,0).
A defesa de Detroit soma 16 sacks, a segunda melhor marca da NFL, atrás apenas de Denver. O front seven vive um de seus melhores momentos na era Dan Campbell. Mahomes, porém, é difícil de ser derrubado: ele foi sacado apenas sete vezes em toda a temporada, a sexta menor marca da liga.
