The Detroit Lions Football Education Department presents an exciting, interactive character education initiative entitled "Score with Reading", designed to teach students K-5 about the importance of reading. This assembly lasts approximately 40 minutes and will help students see how reading, literacy and comprehension are crucial to their success and everyday life. The assembly includes an interactive story acted out by Roary.
The objective of the presentation is to utilize the sport of football and our Detroit Lions Mascot Roary as an avenue to encourage children to read regularly and become better readers. The assembly also incorporates an optional contest "Roary's Reading Challenge" that schools can conduct prior to their assembly date.
Kids, parents and teachers are encouraged to download Roary’s Reading List. There are book selections for K-5 reading levels that focus on sportsmanship, leadership, and friendship.
