Martin to serve Christmas Dinner at COTS

Detroit, Mich. - On Monday, December 19, Detroit Lions Punter Sam Martin and Ayar Law will be serving up dinner and handing out Christmas gifts at the Coalition for Temporary Shelter (COTS) in Detroit (26 Peterboro St.) at 6:00 pm.

Families that currently live at the shelter will have the opportunity to spend time with Martin and teammates, participate in arts and craft projects, and pick out a toy from Santa's Workshop.

"It's been really great becoming a part of the community here in Detroit and I am really excited for this Holiday kickoff event at COTS," said Martin.  "I'm partnering up with Venar and his team at Ayar Law again and together, we will be able to serve these families a great dinner and give out some nice gifts to children that may not otherwise receive a present this holiday. Partnering with a great organization like COTS is really something I have wanted to do, and knowing how many people they help in the community makes this event even better."

"COTS is successfully showing people how to navigate through life, and how to set a better example for their children to follow as they grow into adulthood,"  said Cheryl P. Johnson, COTS'  CEO.

Sam Martin has been giving back to Detroit and it's surrounding communities since he was drafted by the National Football League's Detroit Lions in 2013.  In addition to the COTS Christmas Kickoff and recent Thanksgiving dinner giveaway, Martin has helped further the mission of organizations like Elevate Detroit, and has been a strong supporter of the Michigan Humane Society, and local children's initiatives.
