O Quarterback do Detroit Lions, Jared Goff, falou com a imprensa após o treino aberto de OTAs de sexta-feira sobre trabalhar com o novo Coordenador Ofensivo Drew Petzing.
Drew Petzing é o quarto Coordenador Ofensivo que o Quarterback Jared Goff terá desde que chegou a Detroit em 2021.
Ainda são os estágios iniciais da implementação da visão de Petzing para o ataque de Detroit, mas Goff tem apreciado ter um papel importante no desenvolvimento e acredita que Petzing traz muito para a mesa como o novo play caller e OC de Detroit.
"Tem sido incrível. Ele tem sido ótimo de trabalhar," disse Goff na sexta-feira após o primeiro treino aberto de OTAs de Detroit para a imprensa. "Ele tem muitas ideias próprias, mas também é muito aberto a ouvir tudo o que nós (jogadores) queremos fazer.
"Tem sido uma sinergia divertida entre ele e eu e toda a nossa comissão ofensiva. Ele tem sido ótimo. Fez um grande trabalho. É um ótimo ouvinte. Ele realmente coloca os jogadores em primeiro lugar e isso é incrível."
Petzing vem do Arizona, onde foi o Coordenador Ofensivo e play caller dos Cardinals nas últimas três temporadas. Agora ele assume um ataque dos Lions que esteve no top 5 em pontos marcados e ataque total na última temporada, com um dos melhores conjuntos de armas ofensivas da NFL e liderado por um Quarterback veterano em Goff, que ficou entre os três melhores em jardas de passe (4.564), passes para touchdown (34) e passer rating (105,5).
"Ele é muito como ter um técnico extra na comissão, apenas em termos de quanto ele já viu, a forma como pensa o jogo, o quanto trabalha nisso," disse Petzing anteriormente nesta offseason sobre trabalhar com Goff.
A oportunidade de trabalhar com um veterano como Goff foi um dos maiores atrativos do cargo de OC em Detroit, segundo Petzing.
Goff disse que existem alguns princípios fundamentais nos quais Petzing acredita que os fãs podem notar como algo diferente, mas também há coisas que Detroit fez bem ofensivamente nos últimos anos que continuarão sendo base desse ataque.
"Ele tem uma ótima noção de como é comandar um ataque e liderar uma sala, e como equilibrar volume com atacar intencionalmente uma defesa e tentar se colocar nas jogadas certas," disse Goff sobre Petzing.

"É difícil, cara. Tem muito mais coisa nisso do que só desenhar jogadas. Acho que ele também tem essa parte extra. A parte que está fora dos X's e O's, acho que ele faz um trabalho incrível nisso."
Perguntado sobre o que exatamente queria dizer, Goff explicou que Petzing tem um entendimento muito bom de como equilibrar conceitos simples e fáceis com complexidades que todos os jogadores conseguem executar, tudo isso mantendo a implementação do ataque divertida e com energia alta.
Tem sido uma transição tranquila até agora, segundo Goff, que espera que a base construída agora leve a mais touchdowns, mais pontos, mais consistência e, principalmente, mais vitórias no outono.
