The Detroit Lions (5-3) travel to Northwest Stadium to face the Washington Commanders (3-6) on Sunday after a 27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Washington hopes to snap a four-game losing streak, while Detroit looks to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time since October 2022.
Last week: The Commanders fell to the Seattle Seahawks 38-14 on Sunday Night Football.
History: Washington leads the all-time series 32-16 over Detroit.
In the most recent matchup, the No. 6 Commanders upset the No. 1 Lions 45-31 in the Divisional Round last season.
Storyline to watch: The Commanders, coming off a 12-5 season that ended in the NFC championship game, are on a four-game losing streak, falling to Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City and Seattle.
Starting quarterback Jayden Daniels has been on and off the injury report over the past nine weeks, playing only four complete games.
The 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year exited Sunday's loss to Seattle with a dislocated elbow in the fourth quarter, with Washington trailing 38-7 and less than eight minutes remaining.
The outlook for Daniels' season is unknown, and backup QB Marcus Mariota is expected to start vs. the Lions.
"Confirm Jayden dislocated his left elbow," Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said. "No timetable on that right now."
