It's a little over a week since free agency started, and the Lions' offensive line looks a lot different.

Tackle Riley Reiff (Vikings) and guard Larry Warford (Saints) both signed with other teams, while Detroit added tackle Rick Wagner and guard T.J. Lang.

This isn't the first time the Lions have turned to free agency to strengthen the offensive line. It's similar to the strategy employed in 1993, one that worked out in the Lions' favor.

It's unclear how it will work out for the 2017 Lions, but on paper, it looks good. Just ask Lang. He left some parting words with his new linemates when reaching out to them after his signing.

"The last thing I relayed to them all was I really feel like we can form one of the best units in the league, with all the talent we have," Lang said.

Lang and Wagner bring experience to a rather young line in Detroit. One of the younger lineman in particular, Taylor Decker, stood out to Lang on film.

"He's a future Pro Bowler," Lang told 97.1 WXYT in a interview Monday. "I watched a lot of film on that guy. He's a stud."

We'll have to wait until the offseason program to get a glimpse of the new-look line in action.

POSITIONS OF NEED
After placing an emphasis on the offensive line in free agency, the Lions' positions of need heading into the draft changed a bit.

A lot of the latest Mock Drafts, including one from our own Mike O'Hara, have the Lions going defense.

ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay has Detroit taking Missouri defensive end Charles Harris.

"A twitchy athlete off the edge, Harris is just scratching the surface as a pass-rusher," McShay wrote in his Mock. "He led the SEC with 18.5 tackles for loss in 2015 and finished this past season on a tear (5.5 sacks, six quarterback hurries and a forced fumble in his final four games). Ezekiel Ansah can't be the only pass-rushing threat in Detroit."
