WEEK IN REVIEW: Lions continue to add to roster

The Lions continued to add to their roster this week with the signing of two free agents: Tight end Luke Willson and defensive tackle Sylvester Williams. They also re-signed defensive tackle Christian Ringo.

Signing with the Lions was a dream come true for Willson, who grew up a big Lions fan.

"I remember being a kid on Sundays in LaSalle watching Barry, Herman Moore, I think Scott Mitchell was the quarterback back in the day, Johnnie Morton." Willson said via conference call Wednesday. "David Sloan ended up being my college tight ends coach (at Rice).

"As far as what this means to me, honestly, it's a dream come true. I'm really excited to wear the Honolulu blue."

While Williams doesn't have any childhood ties to the Lions, he's still excited to come to Detroit and get to work.

"I like the town, it's a blue-collar town and that's the kind of guy I am," Williams said in his conference call Wednesday.

"Just coming here and meeting with coach (Matt) Patricia and hearing him talk. Me and him talked for about 30 minutes and just how family-oriented he is and how family-oriented he wants things to be around here and the type of grind and hard work we're going to put in, I got excited about that."
