What happened: It certainly wasn't a pretty win for the Lions over the Bears Sunday, but that sounds about right for this 2016 Detroit Lions team.
Leading 13-10 midway through the fourth quarter, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford had a 3rd and 5 pass intercepted by Bears cornerback Cre'Von LeBlanc and returned 24 yards for a touchdown that gave the Bears a 17-13 lead.
It was only fitting then that Stafford lead the Lions right back down the field 76 yards in seven plays to take back the lead on his own 7-yard touchdown run, his first of the season.
The score put the Lions up 20-17 with less than four minutes to play.
From there, two critical holding penalties on the Bears during their final possession wiped two big plays off the board. Darius Slay knocked away a Matt Barkley pass on 4th and 11 to seal the win.
Stafford also threw a 16-yard touchdown to Anquan Boldin, and kicker Matthew Prater provided the rest of the scoring for the Lions with field goals of 29 and 54 yards.
QB Comparison: Stafford was 21-of-35 passing for 223 yards with one touchdown, two interceptions and a rushing touchdown. His passer rating was just 64.3. His two interceptions were the third and fourth against the Bears this season, which is more than the three he's thrown against every other team on Detroit's schedule this season.
Bears quarterback Matt Barkley completed 20 of his 32 passes for 212 yards and a lone 31-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to receiver Cameron Meredith. He finished with a 92.2 passer rating.
Moving on up: It seemed fitting that Boldin moved into a tie for 10th place (Andre Johnson) on the all-time receptions list (1,062) with a diving 10-yard catch on third-down. Boldin entered the game with 19 third-down receptions.
It was even more fitting that he moved into 10th place all by himself with a 16-yard touchdown catch right before the end of the first half. It was Boldin's team-leading seventh touchdown reception of the season.
Boldin finished with three catches for 49 yards and a score.
Injury report: Following Detroit's second offensive possession, Stafford came to the bench and was immediately surrounded by the medical staff. He appeared to hit his throwing hand on a helmet and played the rest of the game with a glove on that hand.
Defensive end Ziggy Ansah injured his right shoulder in the second quarter, but did return later in the second half.
Running back Zach Zenner left the game in the fourth quarter and was being evaluated for a concussion. He never returned. He had 36 yards on seven carries before leaving.
Levy return: Linebacker DeAndre Levy made his return to the lineup after sitting out the last 11 games with quad and knee injuries. Levy finished with four tackles (three solo).
