326 prospects invited to 2018 NFL Scouting Combine

A total of 326 players have been invited to participate in the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis Feb 27-March 5, the NFL announced Tuesday.

The annual event features medical evaluations, interviews with teams, media sessions and on-field workouts for most of college football's best talent entering the NFL Draft.

Alabama, fresh off another national championship, leads all schools this year with 14 invitees. Ohio State is second with 11 players invited. Georgia and LSU each have 10 players attending.

The Combine is one of the important components of the pre-draft process for Lions GM Bob Quinn and his staff.

Quinn has already expressed a desire to add to the running back room this offseason. There are 30 running backs invited to this year's Combine, with Saquon Barkley (Penn State), Sony Michel (Georgia), Derrius Guice (LSU), Ronald Jones (USC) and Nick Chubb (Georgia) leading that group.

Detroit will also be looking to bolster its defensive front in this year's NFL Draft. Anywhere from 6-10 defensive linemen could go in the first round of this year's draft. Some of those big names to keep an eye on are Bradley Chubb (NC State), Tremaine Edmunds (Virginia Tech), Marcus Davenport (Texas-San Antonio), Vita Vea (Washington), Maurice Hurst (Michigan) and Da'Ron Payne (Alabama).

Running backs, offensive linemen and specialists will be the first players to arrive and go through workouts. They will be followed in groups by (quarterbacks, receivers and tight ends), (defensive linemen and linebackers) and then (defensive backs).
