Educating your youth football coaching staff is an important part of making the game of football for all involved (participants, parents, coaches) a much more enjoyable experience. Conducting the proper age-appropriate drills, presenting the game in a positive manner and making player health and safety a top priority are just some of the roles of today's youth football coach.
One way to help educate your youth football coaches in the off-season is to host a Detroit Lions Youth Football Coaches Clinic in your community. Conducted specifically for your youth football organization, this Coaches Clinic will be designed to focus on the topics important to your youth football organization. You choose the positions to learn and the Detroit Lions Football Education Division provides the staff to present the topics of interest.

- Fundamentals of Quarterback Play
- Fundamentals of Offensive Line Play

- Fundamentals of Defensive Line Play

- Basic Special Teams Concepts
Within the topics, discussion on qualities to look for within the position, specific drills to use during individual period, important techniques to teach and vital coaching points to express will be the core of each position presentation. Coaching Clinics include handouts, outlines, a direct link to instructional videos from the Detroit Lions Football Education staff, and most importantly, the opportunity to learn a better way to coach the game of football!
Members of the Detroit Lions Football Education staff will conduct three 45-minute fundamental position clinics along with question and answer sessions to benefit your coaching staff!
Coaches Clinics are conducted during the football off-season (January-July) and typically run weeknights from 7-10 p.m., but can be structured to meet the time frame that fits within your youth football organization's schedule.
