WEEK IN REVIEW: The head coaching search continues

The Lions are now in the second week of their head coaching search.

Two of the candidates the team interviewed -- Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur and Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia -- are still in the playoff hunt, so it could be awhile until a decision is made.

Teryl Austin, who interviewed with the team last week, left for Cincinnati to be the Bengals defensive coordinator.

The team also interviewed Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel, Packers assistant head coach/linebackers coach Winston Moss and Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter last week, but no other updates have been announced.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford was asked about the ongoing search on WJR Wednesday evening, but he confirmed he has not been a part of the process.

"It doesn't affect me either way, honestly," Stafford said when asked about a potential role in the search process. "I'll just go about my business. When you guys hear, I'm sure I'll hear. I'll talk to whoever it is, and we'll go from there."
