By the numbers: Lions 2019 draft class

The new crop of Detroit Lions rookies will get their first look at life in the NFL during next weekend's rookie minicamp. After that they'll join the veterans in the offseason training program, and that's when the reality of being a rookie in the NFL really sets in.

Before the rookies officially turn the page on their college careers, let's take a look back at some interesting numbers and statistics for each of Detroit's nine draft picks:

2%: T.J. Hockenson's drop rate in 2018, the lowest drop rate of any tight end in the FBS that saw 50-plus catchable targets.

391: Tackles registered by linebacker Jahlani Tavai over his college career at Hawaii, which ranks second all-time in school history. He recorded back-to back 100-tackle seasons in 2016 (129) and 2017 (124), and was well on his way to that total in 2018 (82 in eight games), if not for a shoulder injury that ended his season prematurely.

20: Bench press reps for third-round pick Will Harris at the NFL Scouting Combine, which was the third most among safeties.

1,087: Snaps played by defensive end Austin Bryant over a four-year career at Clemson that spanned 51 games and 29 career starts. Bryant finished his Tigers career with 153 tackles, 35 tackles for loss, 20.0 sacks and 32 quarterback pressures.

No. 5: Cornerback Amani Oruwariye ranked fifth in the Big Ten last season with an average of 1.2 passes defended per game. Oruwariye earned the highest win rate among all defenders in the one-on-one drills at the Senior Bowl, per Pro Football Focus statistics.

9: Consecutive games with a touchdown in 2018 for sixth-round pick Travis Fulgham out of Old Dominion, who also was the first offensive player drafted from Old Dominion. Fulgham led Conference USA with a 17.2 average per reception last season.

4,196: All-purpose yards for running back Ty Johnson ranks third in Maryland school history. Johnson averaged 7.6 yards per carry over his college career and also recorded kickoff return touchdowns on the road against Michigan and Ohio State.

No. 1: Seventh-round pick Isaac Nauta was the No. 1 tight end recruit in the nation following his 2015 high school season at IMG Academy. Nauta was ranked the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of Florida by ESPN. He finished with 62 receptions for 841 yards and seven touchdowns in three seasons with the Bulldogs.

84.7: The grade seventh-round pick defensive tackle P.J. Johnson received from PFF last season, which was 15th best in the DT class. He also had the fourth highest pass rushing grade among interior defenders in the Pac-12.
