Joe Harvey enters his 6th season with the Lions and was promoted to BLESTO Scout in 2026. In his role, he is responsible for helping identify prospects for the Midwest region. Harvey has been with Detroit's personnel department since 2021, originally being hired as a scouting assistant. He went on to earn multiple promotions, including to Personnel Assistant and Auxiliary Scout. In his previous roles, he worked on a variety of player-personnel projects, including player evaluations, scouting reports, and annual NFL Draft preparation.
Before joining the Lions, Harvey worked in the recruiting department at the University of Georgia from 2019-2021, supporting the running backs coach. Harvey helped the program identify top high school prospects and host campus visits. He began his NFL career in 2019 as a training camp intern for the Houston Texans. A native of Tyrone, Ga., Harvey walked on at The University of Alabama as a tight end from 2016-18 and was a member of the 2017 National Championship team. Harvey graduated from Alabama with his degree in restaurant and hospitality management. He and his fiancée, Victoria, reside in Detroit.
