Thadeus Jackson joins the Lions in 2025 as an assistant strength & conditioning coach after spending a season with the Houston Texans in 2024 in a similar role. He has spent more than 15 years in the National Football League. Jackson works closely with all members of Detroit's performance staff to assist in creating comprehensive training programs that propel players to achieve a high level of success.
Before his stint with the Texans, Jackson spent 14 seasons with the Green Bay Packers as a strength and conditioning coach. His primary duties in Green Bay included designing, organizing, and executing strength and conditioning procedures, as well as assisting with practice and the special teams staff on gamedays. During his time in Green Bay, he was a member of the strength and conditioning staff that helped the Packers win Super Bowl XLV following the 2010 season. Before joining the Lions, Jackson was a member of nine coaching staffs that helped secure an NFL division title.
Before his time in Green Bay, Jackson was the head strength and conditioning coach at Hinds Community College (Raymond, Miss.), in 2009. He originally began at Hinds in 2000 as a student athletic trainer, where he worked with the football, baseball, track and field, and basketball teams. Following his first stint at Hinds, Jackson worked at the University of Alabama as a student athletic trainer from 2002-05. In 2005, he was hired as a strength and conditioning assistant in Tuscaloosa, working primarily with the football program. Jackson originally began working in the NFL in 2003 as an athletic training intern for the New England Patriots.
Jackson also earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama in human environmental science. He went on to earn his M.S. in exercise science and performance enhancement from California University (Pa.). Jackson is certified as a sports performance coach by USA Weightlifting (Level 1 Sport Performance) and attained his NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) performance-enhancement specialist certification. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist by the NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) and an NSCA-registered strength and conditioning coach with distinction (RSCC*D). He is currently a PhD candidate in sports management at the United States Sports Academy.
A native of Columbus, Miss., Jackson attended New Hope High School in Columbus, starting three years and earning two letters as a defensive back.
