Corey Smith enters his second season with the Lions in 2024 as the team's assistant strength & conditioning coach.
Prior to Detroit, Smith spent one season with Abilene Christian. He served as Associate AD for Strength and Conditioning after being promoted from Director of Football Strength and Conditioning shortly after joining the program.
Smith worked his way up through the collegiate ranks with stints at Texas Tech, Texas, Memphis, Missouri, Iowa and his alma mater, Illinois State. He received his bachelor's degree in kinesiology and exercise science before moving on to obtain his master's degree in health and sport science from Memphis.
He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa). Smith is also certified in precision nutrition (PN1) and functional range conditioning (FRCms).
A native of Downers Grove, Ill., Smith and his wife Jacqui, have two daughters, Avery and Parker.
