Jay Muraco enters his fifth season in Detroit after joining the Lions staff in 2016 as the team's area scout, bringing with him more than 25 years of NFL player personnel experience.
Prior to Detroit, Muraco served as an area scout for the Chicago Bears from 2013-14 following a four-year stint with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he was also an area scout.
Before to his time with the Chiefs, Muraco spent nine seasons (2000-08) with the New England Patriots as the team's college scouting coordinator. During his time in New England, the Patriots won three Super Bowls (XXXVI, XXXVIII and XXXIX).
Muraco began as a volunteer in the Cleveland Browns personnel department from 1992-95 before going on to work with the Philadelphia Eagles scouting department for four seasons (1996-99). A 2000 graduate of Kent State University, he entered the NFL ranks with the San Diego Chargers as a training camp intern in 1992.
