The Lions will be shorthanded on offense today as they square off against Chicago's No. 3 ranked defense in Detroit's annual Thanksgiving Day Game at Ford Field.
The Lions played without veteran wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. (knee) last Sunday and were able to squeak out a win over Carolina. They'll be without Jones again today against the Bears, but also won't have the services of starting running back Kerryon Johnson, who injured his left knee in the third quarter of the Carolina game.
The Lions will look to Kenny Golladay to once again step up and spark the passing attack without Jones, but they'll also need LeGarrette Blount, Theo Riddick and Zach Zenner to give them a boost running the football against a Bears rushing defense that is the best in the league (77.8 yards allowed per game).
Johnson has accounted for 854 total yards and four touchdowns in 10 games, and Jones has 508 receiving yards and five touchdowns in nine games, so the Lions are missing a good chunk of production today. Can quarterback Matthew Stafford overcome it for a second straight game?
The good news for Detroit is that six of the seven players who came into today's game questionable with various ailments are active. That list includes defensive end Ziggy Ansah (knee), defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson (ankle), cornerback Darius Slay (knee), defensive tackle Damon Harrison (shoulder), wide receiver Bruce Ellington (back) and tight end Michael Roberts (shoulder). The only one inactive from that group of questionable players is linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin due to a neck injury.
Joining Jones, Johnson and Reeves-Maybin on Detroit's inactive list today are: Wide receiver Brandon Powell, defensive end Kerry Hyder Jr., tackle Andrew Donnal and cornerback Teez Tabor.
Tabor is a healthy scratch after struggling in the backend of Detroit's defense all year. Opposing quarterbacks have a perfect passer rating (158.3) when throwing at Tabor this season with four touchdowns.
One significant inactive to note for Chicago is quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. He was listed as doubtful on Wednesday's injury report and is officially inactive. Veteran Chase Daniel will start at quarterback for Chicago.
