Health and Safety

Player Health & Safety is of the utmost importance. Whether you are playing flag or tackle football, running routes with your quarterback or playing another sport, participation is contingent on staying healthy and being aware of the signs and symptoms when something just doesn’t feel right. Educating yourself, your parents and coaches in terms of player health & safety can allow you to maximize your playing time on the field and minimize the amount of time you spend on the sidelines.

The following areas of emphasis provide a quality overview of just some of the issues facing today’s athlete:

Strength and Conditioning

Every March, the Detroit Lions Strength & Conditioning staff conducts a Strength & Conditioning Clinic designed to meet the needs of coaches, athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike. The goal of this clinic is to provide, share and exchange information in the ever-changing world of strength & conditioning. Breakout sessions include the areas of strength training, speed development & conditioning, and nutrition. Program participants will be exposed to multiple philosophical approaches and experience numerous training techniques. A vast array of equipment will be on hand for all to try.

Clinic includes a copy of the clinic DVD, handbook—speaker’s notes and handouts, a raffle give away, sponsor gift bag, Lions Training Facility tour, and a question and answer session with several current Lions players.
