Biography

Rob Lohman enters his 10th season with the Lions and his first as the team’s assistant director of pro scouting. He spent the previous two seasons as assistant director of pro personnel following seven seasons as the team’s college scouting coordinator and regional scout. Lohman is now the team’s primary advance scout in addition to his extensive involvement in pro personnel evaluations, and will also scout other pro leagues, including the CFL and AFL.

Lohman is now the team’s primary advance scout in addition to his extensive involvement in pro personnel evaluations, and will also scout other pro leagues, including the CFL and AFL.

Lohman originally joined the player personnel staff in May 2007 and had a variety of responsibilities in both college and pro scouting, including serving as the team’s advance scout during his first season.

Previously, Lohman spent six years with the Houston Texans, and was a member of the organization before it began play in the NFL in 2002. From 2004-06, he served as the team’s northeast regional scout, and was the team’s pro administrator from 2002-03. Additionally in 2003, he handled all the team advance scouting duties. Lohman joined the Texans in 2001 as a scouting intern.

Before entering the NFL ranks in 2001, he was a graduate assistant at Syracuse University, where he earned his master’s degree in higher education.

In 1998, Lohman was a special teams and recruiting assistant at Hofstra.

Lohman graduated from the University of South Carolina, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management and worked with the Gamecocks’ football program as an undergraduate recruiting assistant. He and his wife, Mari, have a son, Brenden, and two daughters, Katie and Brynn.
