TRANSACTIONS:

  • Claimed off waivers by the Detroit Lions May 5, 2009 and re-signed with the Lions as a restricted free agent March 22, 2010.
  • Re-signed with the Green Bay Packers March 16, 2009 and was waived by the club May 4, 2009.
  • Signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted rookie free agent May 6, 2006.

PRO: Entering his fifth season, Hunter signed with Detroit in 2009 after spending the previous three seasons (2006-08) with Green Bay primarily as a key member of their special teams unit.

  • In 2008, Hunter had his most productive season as he played in 12 games and registered a season-high six tackles (two solo), a career-high 2.0 sacks and returned a fumble 54 yards for his first career score at Chicago (11/16).
  • In his three years as a Packer, Hunter played in 42 games and recorded eight tackles (four solo), 2.0 sacks for a loss of 5 yards and a fumble recovery.

  • Returned a fumble 54 yards for a score, the first touchdown of his career vs. Chicago (11/16). The touchdown was the team’s seventh defensive score of the year, a new franchise record.

2007: Played in all 16 games, plus both playoff contests, primarily on special teams and led the club with 25 special teams tackles. His 25 tackles marked the most by a Packers player since Packers’ director of college scouting John Dorsey posted 30 in 1985.

  • Made a team-high three special teams tackles at New York Giants (9/16).
  • In third quarter vs. Oakland (12/9) chased down PR Tim Dwight and forced him to fumble. The ball bounced into the end zone and was recovered by Will Blackmon for a touchdown. Posted two special teams stops.

2006: Non-drafted free agent made the team and played in 14 games, mostly on special teams, and was listed as inactive twice. Finished the season with two solo tackles.

COLLEGE: In 50 games (15 starts) over four years at Appalachian State, concluded career with 186 tackles (110 solo), 38.5 stops for loss, 24.0 sacks, nine passes defensed, five forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and an interception.

  • In 2005, recorded 101 stops (51 solo), 24.5 tackles for loss and 13.0 sacks in 15 starts. Also recovered three fumbles, returning two for scores, caused two fumbles and returned an interception for a touchdown.
  • A 2005 Division I-AA second-team All-America selection, was a first-team All-Southern Conference honoree.
