Entering his fourth NFL season, Fells joins the Lions after stints with the Seahawks and Cardinals. After returning from a professional basketball career in Europe, Fells entered the League as a free agent in Seattle before being signed as a member of the Cardinals practice squad for his rookie season. He comes to the Lions after establishing himself as a dependable run-blocking tight end.
2016: Played in 14 games (7 starts) and totaled 14 receptions, 154 receiving yards and one touchdown.
2015: Started a career-high 12 games and led all Cardinals tight ends in receiving.
2014: Appeared in 10 games and recorded the first start of his career in Week 3 against San Francisco (9/21).
Did not play college football. Attended UC-Irvine where he played college basketball and was Second-Team All-Big West as a senior in 2008. Appeared in 123 games and averaged 10.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
Played basketball professionally in Belgium, Finland, France, Mexico and Argentina.
